Is INC.redible and nails.INC cruelty-free?

Nails.INC is a UK-based nail polish brand and in 2017, they launched INC.redible Cosmetics, a sister brand offering a collection of affordable makeup products. But is INC.redible and Nails.INC cruelty-free and 100% vegan in 2021? We’ve got the answers here!

Is Nails.INC Cruelty-Free?

Nails.INC and INC.redible are cruelty-free! None of their ingredients, formulations, or finished products are tested on animals, anywhere in the world.

Nails.INC and INC.redible are part of the same company so, they have the same animal testing policy. I will be stating Nails.INC’s cruelty-free policy but note that I’m also referring to INC.redible.

Nails.INC Animal Testing Policy

Nails.INC has confirmed they do not test their products or ingredients on animals or ask others to test on their behalf. Their suppliers also do not test on animals nor do they allow their products to be tested on animals when required by law. And finally, their products are not sold in stores in mainland China or any other country that may require animal testing.

Below is a screenshot of Nails.INC’s official animal testing statement:

Is Nails.INC Sold in China?

Most imported cosmetics sold in mainland China are required by law to be tested on animals in 2021. However, Nails.INC and INC.redible have confirmed they do not sell their products in retail stores in mainland China and therefore they are not required to test on animals.

Nails.INC and INC.redible have met all of the criteria in our Cruelty-Free Checklist and is included on our List of Cruelty-Free Brands.

You can find their cruelty-free products at nailsinc.com and Sephora.

Is Nails.INC and INC.redible Vegan?

Not all of Nails.INC or INC.redible’s products are vegan as some of their products contain animal-derived ingredients or by-products. They claim to be working towards becoming 100% vegan. For now, both brands have some vegan options.

Note at the top banner of their website, it says “Cruelty-Free | Vegan | 21-Free | Longwear | Halal Friendly”. When I first saw this, I thought all of Nails.INC and INC.redible products are vegan. However, they are not a 100% vegan cosmetic or nail polish brand (yet).

Nails.INC isn't 100% vegan yet as it appears

The company claims they’re working towards becoming 100% vegan, but some of their products are not vegan.

“Both brands are cruelty free and nearing 100% vegan, making big steps to ensure every product is as planet-friendly as it possibly can be.”

I found it a little misleading and confusing that they have “Vegan” at the top of their website but not all of their products are vegan. I later found out that it’s actually part of their menu navigation where if you click on the text “Vegan”, it will lead you to a page of all their vegan products.

When I asked which of Nails.Inc’s products are vegan, the company responded and told me:

We would recommend Nails Inc NAILPURE. Some products do have animal ingredients such as the NPR pot (nail polish remover pot) with collagen. But if there is something in particular you’re looking at, it’s best to send a list for us to go through it and come back to you in detail.

They also don’t label their individual products as vegan on each product page so it’s best to reference this page on their website of all their vegan products for the most up-to-date and accurate list of their vegan options. At the time of writing this article, they have an impressive 271 vegan products on this page!

Is INC.redible Sustainable?

Nails.INC‘s headquarters is based in: London, UK

Nails.INC‘s products are manufactured in: Across UK, Europe, and Asia

Nails Inc claims to be “planet-friendly” but there is no evidence or information on what that exactly means.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find any available information on Nails Inc’s sustainability, environmental, and social initiatives.

Nails Inc did launch its Plant Power Nail Polish collection that includes a recyclable and sustainable eco-friendly 100% FSC beech wooden cap. But all their other nail polish collections use plastic caps.

INC.redible’s Response to Mica Sourcing: When I emailed Nails Inc to ask if their Mica is ethically sourced without the use of child labor, they responded stating:

Yes, we can confirm that all Mica used in our products is cruelty free, ethically sourced and without child labour. We do routine GMP (Good manufacturing Practices) audits on our Suppliers. All of our manufacturers are ISO 22716 certified. We also routinely have social audits done on our manufacturing suppliers including SMETA and BSCI.

I hope this article helped you to understand Nails.INC and INC.redible’s cruelty-free and vegan status and by choosing cruelty-free together, we can help end animal testing for cosmetics once and for all!
