Is Giorgio Armani Cruelty-Free?

Armani Beauty is a high-end, designer makeup brand but is Giorgio Armani cruelty-free in 2020?

Is Giorgio Armani Cruelty-Free?

Giorgio Armani Beauty is NOT Cruelty-free. Giorgio Armani Beauty pays and allows their products to be tested on animals when required by law. Giorgio Armani Beauty also sells its products in stores in mainland China where animal testing is mandatory for all imported cosmetics.

Giorgio Armani Beauty is also owned by L’Oreal, a parent company that is also not cruelty-free.

Below is a screenshot I took of what’s currently stated on Giorgio Armani Beauty’s website:

Giorgio Armani Animal Testing Statement

Giorgio Armani Animal Testing Statement

Giorgio Armani states they do not use animals to test its products and explains their parent company, L’Oreal uses alternative methods to animal testing, which is great and all but the part we need to pay attention to is the ending of that statement.

“Others, completely independent of L’Oreal and outside the direction or control of L’Oreal, might do animal testing pursuant to their local requirements.”

This implies that L’Oreal and Giorgio Armani consents and allows their products to be tested on animals if the law requires it.

Instead of stopping their products from being sold or manufactured if it requires animal testing, L’Oreal and Giorgio Armani have decided to put profits before the welfare of animals.

This is the case for all imported cosmetics sold in retail stores in mainland China where animal testing is mandatory for foreign cosmetics wanting to sell in their country.

Is Giorgio Armani Beauty Sold in China?

But is Giorgio Armani Beauty products sold in stores in mainland China and required to be tested on animals?

Yes. I found evidence that Giorgio Armani Beauty is indeed sold in China.

Below is a couple of screenshots I took of Giorgio Armani’s Chinese website and their store locator clearly shows they have many stores in mainland China selling their products:

Giorgio Armani Sold in China – Not Cruelty-Free!

Giorgio Armani Store Locations in China – Not Cruelty-Free!

Although Giorgio Armani and L’Oreal may not be conducting these animal tests themselves, but they are allowing and paying Chinese officials to do it for them.

Many truly cruelty-free cosmetic brands have chosen not to sell in retail stores in China for this very reason or until China no longer requires imported cosmetics to be tested on animals.

Unfortunately, both Giorgio Armani Beauty and Giorgio Armani Perfume refuses to do the same.

By choosing to sell in mainland China, Giorgio Armani must have their products be tested on animals. Therefore I would not consider Giorgio Armani Beauty to be a cruelty-free brand.

Giorgio Armani Beauty is on our List of Brands to Avoid – Animal Tested.

Is Giorgio Beauty Vegan?

Since we would not consider Giorgio Armani Beauty to be cruelty-free as their products are tested on animals when required by law, we also wouldn’t consider anything sold or manufactured by the brand to be vegan.
