Is Eva NYC Cruelty-Free?

Eva NYC is a Brooklyn-based hair care brand but is Eva NYC cruelty-free and 100% vegan in 2020? Find the answer here!

Is Eva NYC Cruelty-Free?

Eva NYC is Cruelty-free! None of Eva NYC’s ingredients, formulations, or finished products are tested on animals, anywhere in the world.

In addition, Eva NYC is Leaping Bunny certified cruelty-free.

Eva NYC Animal Testing Policy

Eva NYC has confirmed they do not test their products or ingredients on animals, they do not allow others to test on their behalf, their suppliers also do not test on animals, they do not allow their products to be tested on animals when required by law, and their products are not sold in stores in mainland China or any other country that may require animal testing.

Below is a snippet of the email response I received from Eva NYC:

All of our products are also Leaping Bunny certified, which means that at no point in production are our ingredients or products tested on animals. We do not sell outside of North America at this time.

Is Eva NYC Sold in China?

All imported cosmetics sold in mainland China are required by law to be tested on animals. However, Eva NYC has confirmed they do not sell their products in retail stores in mainland China and therefore they are not required to test on animals.

Eva NYC has met all of our criteria in our Cruelty-Free Checklist and is included on our List of Cruelty-Free Brands.

You can find Eva NYC cruelty-free products on Amazon or at Ulta, Target, Walmart, Sally Beauty, and Well.ca

Is Eva NYC Vegan?

Not all of Eva NYC’s products are vegan as some of their products contain animal-derived ingredients or by-products. However, Eva NYC does have some vegan options.

When I emailed Eva NYC to ask if they have any vegan-friendly hair products, they told me:

“All products that are 100% Vegan have icons on our site, letting you know they’ve been certified! 😊 The only product that contains an animal by-product is our Tone it Down collection, which features hydrolyzed keratin (which is manufactured from ethically and humanely sourced sheeps wool).”

Also, currently on their website, it says “NOTE- all eva nyc products are vegan & free from sulfates, except select last call items“. It sounds to me that they are working on reformulating their non-vegan products to be vegan. And also discontinuing some of their non-vegan product offerings, so that they’ll be a 100% vegan brand in the near future!

So, instead of listing all of Eva NYC vegan options. I’m going to post a list of their products that aren’t vegan below.

Eva NYC Non-Vegan Product List

The following Eva NYC products contain some animal-derived ingredients or by-products and therefore are not suitable for vegans and should be avoided for now.

  • chameleon temporary color spray – not vegan

  • skip the spa thermal hair wrap – not vegan
  • tone it down! blonde shampoo – not vegan
  • tone it down! blonde conditioner – not vegan
  • tone it down! blonde shampoo – not vegan
  • tone it down! blonde conditioner – not vegan

This vegan product list is updated as frequently as possible, please be aware that formulations may have changed since the publication of this post. If you have new information to suggest one of the above products isn’t vegan, please email me at [email protected] to let me know.

Is Eva NYC Ethical?

Based in: Brooklyn, New York

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find any available information on eva nyc’s sustainability, environmental, and social initiatives.

Eco-Friendly Packaging Initiatives: Eva NYC has a recycling program with Terracycle where customers can send in their used and empty Eva NYC bottles to be recycled. “For every shipment of Eva NYC recyclable waste sent to TerraCycle, you can earn points that can be donated to a non-profit, school, or charitable organization of your choosing!”

Ingredients and Formulations Claims: Eva NYC claims they are a 100% cruelty-free brand, completely free from parabens and phthalates and fully recyclable.

I hope this article helped you to understand Eva NYC’s cruelty-free and vegan status and by choosing cruelty-free together, we can help end animal testing for cosmetics once and for all!
