Biossance is a sustainable beauty brand known for their use of sugarcane-derived squalane but is Biossance cruelty-free and 100% vegan in 2020? We’ve got the answers here!
Is Biossance Cruelty-Free?
Biossance is Cruelty-free! None of Biossance’s ingredients, formulations, or finished products are tested on animals, anywhere in the world.
In addition, Biossance is certified cruelty-free by Leaping Bunny.
Biossance Animal Testing Policy
Biossance has confirmed they do not test their products or ingredients on animals, they do not allow others to test on their behalf, their suppliers also do not test on animals, they do not allow their products to be tested on animals when required by law, and their products are not sold in stores in mainland China or any other country that may require animal testing.
Below is a screenshot of Biossance official animal testing statement:
In addition, I emailed Biossance to ask for more information about their animal testing policy. The following is a snippet of the response I received from the brand:
“Biossance products contain no animal ingredients or by-products in the manufacturing process or final product.
No animal testing is involved in any part of the process and we do not ask third parties to test our products or ingredients on animals on our behalf.
We do not ship or sell internationally (anywhere where animal testing is required by law)”
Is Biossance Sold in China?
All imported cosmetics sold in mainland China are required by law to be tested on animals. However, Biossance has confirmed they do not sell their products in retail stores in mainland China and therefore they are not required to test on animals.
Is Biossance Vegan?
All of Biossance’s products are vegan and don’t contain any animal-derived ingredients or by-products. Biossance is a 100% vegan brand.
Instead of shark liver sourced squalene, Biossance uses a renewable, sugarcane-derived alternative. As a result, they claim their vegan squalane has saved 2 million sharks.
The following is a screenshot of what’s currently stated on Biossance’s official website about its vegan products:
